I appreciate you writing this out in such a polite manner. This is how feedback should be given and why gameplay feedback is private. If you guys have major problems with the map, post it in the private sections.what you are describing is different. that is the processes of coming back, which you cant do if you have a team that keeps 5v3 and losing while their other 3 players are pushing all other lanes and you are solo defending.
Split pushing and sneaking an objective is still a thing. They also adjusted the souls per walker to adjust for lack of the 4th one, im assuming, split evenly amongst the three. So those objective souls are still there.
One sided masacres pre-patch were common enough they made a mega thread and i saw near daily threads of people complaining about matchmaking making it impossible to win because their teams were that bad and there wasnt anything they could do. That literally is the snowball effect.
That being said, I havnt played the new map and there are parts that just look like it will feel strange or bad. All those aspects can be fixed. 3 lanes versus 4 lanes is an objective based decisions, same as mid boss placement, and urn. Everything else goes towards game flow.
I would suspect that the game flow feels bad right now as everyone is getting used to the changes and it will either level out as people figure it out, or, it will require them to make adjustments. Like the map may be too small, or, too many jungle camps, etc. These types of things need more than 2 days worth of data and knee jerk reactions from the testing base.
I agree. It needs to be objective and not based on feelings. (or as much as we humans can muster it). I have done 3 private ones so far. initial, 100 games, then i think 300 games for the old map.I appreciate you writing this out in such a polite manner. if you are having 6v6 fights at 4 minutes you are dumb af
That's how you get 500 players peak and end of service announcement in 3 months. You can't just tell 90% of your audience to piss off. While player numbers aren't everything for a game without all the modern bells-and-whistles, that and whatever stats Valve has access to behind the scenes compelled them to change the map.
I would say that because they are a different type of game.So making it more appealing, and changing it in a way that its just another generic hero shooter will help with that?
better to make the core audience of your game happy, than trying to be one of many (and not even good at it). Whats Deadlocks USP now? Why wouldn't I jsut go play Rivals or Overwatch now?
I fully and 100% expect this later on in development once they have decided on their core game playThe new map is interesting and some people like it, but I prefer 4 lanes. I hope that Valve will do the smart thing and create a Map Selection feature. Every valve game has a lot of maps and it is going to be cool to see variation in Deadlock as well. Just don't force us to play 3 lanes only.
Maybe do it now to gather data on both maps?I fully and 100% expect this later on in development once they have decided on their core game play
i dont have an issue with this but i suspect there isnt enough players. could at least do it for a couple weeks min just for the dataMaybe do it now to gather data on both maps?
Player count has remained steady at between 11k-18k depending on the day of the week and time of day for the last couple of months. Considering that there's 11 distinct Tiers each with 6 sub-ranks all dividing up how many players you have, that's not a whole lot . (66 divisions, so something like an average of about 280-350 players per rank. 12 players per match means you only have maybe 20-30 matches going on at any given time for a given rank, if that many).i dont have an issue with this but i suspect there isnt enough players. could at least do it for a couple weeks min just for the data
My queue time is like 10-20 sec AT MAX. That could be bcs i am usually playing at oracle.Player count has remained steady at between 11k-18k depending on the day of the week and time of day for the last couple of months. Since the average game time is somewhere between 35-45 minutes, that means your average queue time is probably somewhere around 2-8 minutes, depending on skill distribution and whatnot. People already complain about long queue times, so they probably should have around twice as many matches going at a given time in order to have a normal queue time, and another twice that in order to sustain 2 maps.
Basically, if we want to try to test 2 maps, we'd need an average player count of something like 60k to sustain that compared to the ~15k we have now.
Oracle is the largest Rank tier by population, so yeah your queue time is likely to be short. Mine tends to swing between 1 seconds and 10 minutes. My queue time is like 10-20 sec AT MAX. That could be bcs i am usually playing at oracle.
I feel like the split in maps will not be as even as 50/50, players will play more on one map than the other. It will allow to see what the general audience prefers.
so is mine. and i hate it lol. Sometimes its instant and im like, this will end badly. My queue time is like 10-20 sec AT MAX. That could be bcs i am usually playing at oracle.

jus finished a game where, guess what, noobs still scattered around. noobs will always play like noobs until they learn. 3 lanes just feels like absolute dogshit to play. seen someone say this and i think its the biggest problem with the new map. when one lane loses they all lose. you now have 2 players who can roam freely. even if you were winning ur lane 3v2 is tough. meanwhile the lane that just lost is playing catch up so they struggle to even push their tower. with 4 lanes there was a good tug of war for map control. 3 lanes? just fucking sucksit already was like that though, especially in higher elos
the difference is that now that the map is more compact, noobs wont just scatter around everywhere trying to figure out what to do next
This is something I've witnessed quite a bit on the new map. Once one guardian is killed it creates a cascading effect where the first winning lane can leave 1 player to protect the guardian while the other helps take over the other lanes.seen someone say this and i think its the biggest problem with the new map. when one lane loses they all lose. you now have 2 players who can roam freely.
I actually prefer solo lanes. The biggest problem I have with the new map is how curved it is theres not really a ton of big open spaces and it feels like overwatch now
Idk on one hand I HATE solo lanes (you play against mirage / infuser infernus and its just the worst at all elos) but on the other hand the old map felt more open
The new art is awesome and I love the world building they're doing
Also the jungle camp layout is horrible
