GUYS Please return the old map

I do prefer the old map, but keeping in mind why they made the changes, I'm going to propose something that keeps the benefits of what they did here and brings back the elegance of the previous map. I do think 3 guardians is the way to go. Key word "guardians."

Removing the single lane was quite disappointing at first glance. It's how the game does 5 vs 5. But I still think it's an interesting idea. I don't want to say goodbye to the old map. Which got me thinking... what if there are 2 maps in matchmaking?

The old map had a much more tactical and team-oriented game. You killed this with the new map, but the whole team is running towards us from the middle lane and it is too late until we go to help the other lanes. There was an unnecessary map change. Balancing the characters or minor changes would be enough. The old map had a much more tactical and team-oriented game. New map feels so bad. It looks pretty but plays like shit. It doesn't feel like Deadlock anymore, just another generic moba where one wrong move causes you to lose the game as enemy team snowballs down mid
it already was like that though, especially in higher elos
the difference is that now that the map is more compact, noobs wont just scatter around everywhere trying to figure out what to do next

The biggest problem I have with the new map is how curved it is theres not really a ton of big open spaces and it feels like overwatch now

Idk on one hand I HATE solo lanes (you play against mirage / infuser infernus and its just the worst at all elos) but on the other hand the old map felt more open

The new art is awesome and I love the world building they're doing

Also the jungle camp layout is horrible

idc about noobs. learn the game or stop playing.

the new map is literally horrible.
now it feels like another random Overwatch, Paladins, Marval Rivals clusterf*ck.
All the strategy is gone from the game, you constantly have teamfights. There literally is no fights happening with less than 6 ppl past 4mins.

The new map is so bad, that it makes Deadlock feel like a new (worse) game.

if you are having 6v6 fights at 4 minutes you are dumb af

Yes! It DOES feel like overwatch now! I was feeling that too!

not a fan of the new map. i didnt see the reason to get rid of a lane. if you really didnt like solo lanes, almost always someone was willing to switch, very rarely did i not have a chance to do so.

new map takes way too long to rotate, too many corridors/paths etc. (which can probably be optimized), camps are just squished together in an area (which probably will be optimized), too easy to take walkers/midboss for free.

but my main problem is the game just really doesnt feel good now. most of the week i really had to pull myself away from queueing, right now i have to force myself to try and try and see if i just need to get used to changes (doesnt feel like it will be the case)...

This. So much this.

This was my main point of feedback on the map and 4 lanes exacerbated this particular issue. It was easy to snowball with 4 maps because its very difficult to defend 4 lanes.

The issue of snowballing wont go away, but a 3 lane map is easier to defend. Now the question is, is there enough comeback mechanics to stop a snowball in process. Because that was another issue.

Actually, if you are losing, then 3 lane map is HARDER to defend. Before you could have rated some walkers for extra souls + slots. 3 Lane map actually makes it EASIER TO ATTACK than defend, bcs if you are attacking it means you have a soul lead, if you have a soul lead you are more likely to win teamfights. You can just group up and push objectives as a team, which was harder to do before, since there were more objectives, and you had to prevent walker ratting.

The issue with snowballing was there before, but it became MUCH worse now, there wasn`t a single game that i played after the patch where a losing team managed to comeback, or at least put up a fight. It was a one sided masacre EVERY time.

I actually thought i will like the map changes after they were released, but i agree with people saying that the game feels horrible now, even when you are the one winning.

I actually played 2 games, 1 where we almost came back but still lost and another where we started off well, but still stalled toward the end and struggled to finish (enemy team almost came back).

I think a lot of the issue with the new map is that people aren't familiar with the right lanes of traffic on it yet. I'm certain there are ways to move between lanes quickly. I've already discovered at least 3 good rotations for the new map (Left lane to Bridge buff, Mid to Right lane, and Right to mid lane).

Once people learn how to move between lanes more quickly, we'll see people settle into it better.

For anyone who wants to take a look at it, I spent about 40 minutes in exploration mode checking the new stuff out (doing my best to go in detail) comparing the old map to the new one. I also took some time trying to work out new rotations.

Here's the link

That link skips my intro, but if you want to you are welcome to start from the beginning.

That's how you get 500 players peak and end of service announcement in 3 months. You can't just tell 90% of your audience to piss off. While player numbers aren't everything for a game without all the modern bells-and-whistles, that and whatever stats Valve has access to behind the scenes compelled them to change the map.

That has been a problem with Deadlock since forever. Any game with inequitable power shifting (in deadlocks case being level ups/flex slots/item stats/etc) will have snowballing issues.

I played one game with the new map, after a pretty lengthy break. Despite losing as the weakest link on my team, I actually managed to have a little fun playing something that isn't a 40 minute slog fest. While there's still definitely problems that may need fixing someday, I think it's a step in the right direction. Now here's to hoping that the devs continue to follow up with their promise to bring a moba game for people that go outside. I hope they don't revert it just because a couple people who stuck around like to complain a lot.

Edit: Also, I don't think this is the correct place to be posting map feedback.

what you are describing is different. that is the processes of coming back, which you cant do if you have a team that keeps 5v3 and losing while their other 3 players are pushing all other lanes and you are solo defending.

Split pushing and sneaking an objective is still a thing. They also adjusted the souls per walker to adjust for lack of the 4th one, im assuming, split evenly amongst the three. So those objective souls are still there.

One sided masacres pre-patch were common enough they made a mega thread and i saw near daily threads of people complaining about matchmaking making it impossible to win because their teams were that bad and there wasnt anything they could do. That literally is the snowball effect.

That being said, I havnt played the new map and there are parts that just look like it will feel strange or bad. All those aspects can be fixed. 3 lanes versus 4 lanes is an objective based decisions, same as mid boss placement, and urn. Everything else goes towards game flow.

I would suspect that the game flow feels bad right now as everyone is getting used to the changes and it will either level out as people figure it out, or, it will require them to make adjustments. Like the map may be too small, or, too many jungle camps, etc. These types of things need more than 2 days worth of data and knee jerk reactions from the testing base.
