Initially, I would think of Shiv's daggers as a way to give a full melee character range to pop souls, but this idea is better.
Instead of using projectiles to secure/deny souls why not just make the souls themselves a source of damage? Something like pulling them and throwing at an enemy to claim them or marking troopers with some skill that makes the souls interactable with other abilities. Into this also fits the Bounty Hunter's passive from Dota, Jinada, that with cooldown steals money on hit, which could be turned into several interactable souls appearing out of the opponent.
I don't know how handle enemy's interaction with this hero however. Would it be annoying to play against?
