Gray Talon can't be bomb or lifedrain if owl is "far away"

Gray Talon ults flys his owl away and you can't put lifedrain on him as Geist or put bombs on him as bepbop

I believe you also cannot heavy melee Talon or its buggy/doesnt connect sometimes. I've had this experience a few times but this was pre big patch, but doubt its changed.
