Game crashes 1-2 minutes into game session, no matter what

every time i load into the game, it runs fine for about 2 minutes and then gives me an error "content file [...]\steam\steamapps\common\deadlock\game\citadel\pak01.vpk is corrupt. Verify integrity of game files." closing this error notification closes the game, and the next time i try to start deadlock, it automatically attempts to verify and then repeats the process.

this has followed me across operating systems. Verifying integrity of game files does nothing. Redownloading the game does nothing. Manually deleting the file in question and then verifying does nothing. multiple updates and a completely different installation drive later and it is still saying the exact same thing

Same, I've been having this issue for most of a year now and still no fix. It's an absolute gamble every day if I'm going to be able to spend what little leisure time I have playing a game I enjoy, or getting queue banned for 6 hours. I'll run a bots game or watch a previous match vod to see if it'll happen before getting into an actual game; and sometimes it'll work just fine until I specifically get into a pvp game then it crashes on the pre-game lobby
