Game crash consistent when switching to another app

hi - I can repro this at will: I'm in the game, but I switch out of the game and go into an app like Discord, or maybe firefox - to visit youtube.com. I do this often, while waiting because I died or something.

This used to work perfectly, no worries. But since maybe a month or so, the game will hang (gfx not updating anymore) and I can only kill it with taskmanager.
