Friend's File Got Corrupted, and Now He Can't Play

While playing the game as normal, this message appeared and closed the game. Steam client is unable to download content or verify the integrity of the files. Only resolution is to reinstall Deadlock.

I've had to re-download the game when verifying the game cache didn't work. Maybe give that a try.

Same problem happened again for my friend.

Granted, his comp needs to be replaced. Sucks.

Wonder if that would be CRC errors happening with the memory or storage drive. I've had an issue with bad RAM in the past not being able to install games correctly.

I'd start with by checking SMART values of the drive being and running memory tests. The tests can take a long time to run, patience is definitely required. For the RAM, try Memtest and OCCT. Typhoon Burner can also show errors as well, but that program you definitely need to be careful if you make any edits to the SPD with it to prevent bricking overall. Depending on the RAM manufacturer, they may have a lifetime warranty if any issues show up with running those.
