Fatal Error pak01.vpk file corrupted

FATAL ERROR: Content file c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\deadlock\game\citadel\pak01.vpk is corrupt. Verify integrity of game files.

This is easily the most dreadful message I have come across over the past few months. This game is nothing short of amazing and the most fun I have had in the past few months I have been on it but this error is quickly ruining the experience I am having.

Constant bans when I am trying to play the game but this takes me out of my lobby and I spend 10 minutes trying to validate my file while it constantly says 0% until it finally decides it want to download I can roughly estimate it happens for about 2 minutes and 20 seconds then I spend 2 minutes and 30 seconds validating and by the time I get into my game, people can safely abandon and I am banned. Today I have gotten banned for 5 days and another 8 games to play in low prio, how fun!!!

For clarity before people point out some rather obvious points.

No I have no mods. I have never had any mods for the game.

I also have not yet done a memtest but seeing as others have had no success even after doing so I don't think it would even do anything for me in my case (no other games I play crash like this).
