Extreme Ping Spikes (1700ms) When Game is Focused

When Deadlock is the active window, my ping instantly spikes to ~1700ms and stays there. If I ALT+TAB out of the game, ping immediately returns to normal (~30ms). Returning to the game window causes the ping to spike again.

I have 2 friends with this issue as well. Started yesterday.

Shame this is a consistent problem. I'm still having it. I hoped this was a unique problem, but ping spikes nearly every 10 seconds from 25 to several hundred, and rapidly descends. Luckily I haven't broken a thousand, but so far nothing I've tried has cleared it up. I've restarting the game, my modem, and checked if wired vs unwired connections changed anything. But nope. Still going on.
