Drifter's Rend ability does melee damage, giving it synergy with items like Spirit Strike. However, it only procs it as a light melee hit, even at close ranges where Rend does additional spirit damage. This reduces the effects that Spirit Strike ordinarily inflicts when proc'd by a heavy melee attack. I think it would be a good buff to the interaction that Rend has with Spirit Strike if close range hits (within 8 meters so the additional spirit damage is inflicted) counted as heavy melee hits. I'm not sure if this change would require that Spirit Strike's interaction with other melee damaging abilities to have a similar threshold where, if the range is close enough, it will count as a heavy melee. Since Drifter is really the only character I play, I don't know how it would feel on other characters, but I feel that it would help make hitting that 4.8k investment threshold feel more appealing and encourage more fun hybrid builds with Spirit Strike as the main draw. It currently feels a little underwhelming compared to building full gun. I like the direction the last update went with buffing hybrid builds, as I feel the game is more fun when you can choose a variety of builds, but it feels like for characters like Drifter, it just made playing spirit substantially weaker relative to the strength of a full gun build.
