Wait, you got an invite email?! I never did. Now it makes more sense. If steam was down and the game was disconnected from the server (as was the case for me), it makes sense that I would've never received an email. Thus, the game itself, not the server, records your interaction with the "Join Discord" button. If it's client side...hmm.

i clicked on it, it said that it failed and i should try again, then a few seconds later it said i was in the discord when i didn't receive an invite
