I was just playing and it crashed, I tried restarting the game and steam and couldn't get back

I fixed it, I went to heros and clicked on Dynamo (This obv doesnt matter who you pick) loaded into the Hero Testing and then quit the hero testing, it gave me a warning about abandoning the game will result in a penalty and I accepted and now I can play. I didnt get any punishment and the game isnt shown in my match history, maybe the game is still going on and next update for the game I will get a punishment but I hope not. If this happens to anyone else hope this helps.

Got the same thing about 15 minutes ago when playing with a friend, we're concerned about being banned (I have never disconnected from a game before it saying it was safe to, have never rage quit).

Unfortunately couldn't get the match ID as the server completely crashed after trying multiple times to rejoin we got the same message about 3 times.
I remember jumping up as Ivy and all of a sudden she started jerking around and flapping her wings before the game froze, my friend who was Viscous at the time (we were in Discord VC) had a similar issue.

Can't disconnect, abandon the match or start a new game as there is no option in the menu.

Thank you for providing a fix, I'm a little hesitant as I don't fancy being penalised for something that wasn't done on my part, but I hope those who try this fix don't get sanctioned!

This happened to me aswell. I did the hero testing thing fearing I will get banned but it's fine
