Deadlock is promoting its downfall.

They should add a button that says "RANKED" "YOU ARE TOP 0.000001% PLAY NOW AND GO BIG" "YOU ARE HUMAN SO TRY HARDER" and then it just puts you in the normal regular common normie queue with everyone of us. At this point they just want ThE rAnKeD bAcK bEcAuSe ThEy ArE AlChEmiCaLKniGhT IIV aNd tHeY pLaY WiTh DiRtY cOppErScAvEnGeR I

On a more serious note, it was nice that OP added suggestions and he has some points.

Again please go play a game that is released. It being playable does not mean the product is finished. The game changes wildly every 2 weeks and your rank from a month ago might have been botched from various sources. Go play League or Overwatch, or wait until the game is properly released. That's all. You are not a player here, you are a tester. You being able to enjoy the game is a "privilege" of being a tester.
I see where you're coming from, but do you realize that beyond the technical aspects of the game, like gameplay and balance, when developing an MMO/MOBA, you have to consider social factors as well, dont you? If someone tests this game in its current state and dislikes it due to social issues, what do you think will happen when it’s released? Do you believe they will come back to play?

I understand your comment, I really do. However, it feels a bit narrow-focused. You're seeing just one part of the issue, not the whole picture. The product isn't ready, you're right, but it's available to be enjoyed as well as tested. It's not ideal for someone trying to discover new things, whether it's interactions, bugs, etc. If I'm playing with imbalanced teams or someone trolling, it's not optimal for the match experience itself.

It really, really isn't a narrow-focused thing. This game is in testing phase. Whether you feel like one or not, you ARE a tester for this game, not a regular "player", and you enjoying the game does not invalidate that fact. This is why I said enjoying the game is a "privilege" of being a tester. This is not a social issue, this is people being entitled and acting as if the game was already out.

You are not playing a "demo" of the game and thinking about whether or not you will purchase it. You are a tester who is here to provide data about the game so that the team can improve it. There is a difference between an alpha that players test, and a released game with a demo. This one is the former. There's a reason why this game is invite-only. If you don't want to test it for any reason (no meta progression, no ranked, no cosmetics), then you're free to come back after release.

If you are unable to cope with the lack of ranked and don't want to come back when ranked will properly be out, sorry, but this is a you issue. Change the subject here to something like bugs and you can see the non-existing issue: imagine an unreleased game is full of bugs, but otherwise enjoyable. What do you do? Complain about it and never play again, or wait until the devs fix the bugs and release the game to enjoy it? Now swap bugs for ranked. It's as simple as that.

The objective of a test is to fix the pressing issues, not bend over backwards to cater to the whims of its players. They've tested ranked out, and I'm assuming they did it to see how their ranked system will work, etc. But they have no need for ranked otherwise, so they've removed it afterwards.

Validating an issue like that isn't right, because then anyone can complain about any missing feature, which most likely will be there in the future when the game is released. For example, you could then likewise make the argument that because this game has no seasonal ranked or clash or whatever, that it's "promoting its downfall", and that we need to add it so that "people stay here to play it". :|

I'm using "you" in the general sense here, not necessarily referring to you specifically.

Then again, I'm not saying that the game shouldn't be tested or that testing isn't important. I'm simply pointing out that the product, which was released by "mistake" or "leak," is in alpha, you're right. But many people will be judging it prematurely, and this will influence whether they want to play it when it is "ready or not.

The ATH of players was 170k on September 2nd. Currently, the current player base is below 13k, divided across all servers—that’s not a lot if you think about it. If this pattern persists, you might have the best game in the world, but you’ll have lost your community’s credibility, and they won't give you a second chance. It will be a dead game.

So, since it is out there now, why risk losing a project of this caliber due to poor social management?

Besides, okay, do you want us to focus purely on testing the game, finding bugs, and how to reproduce them? What incentive do I have as a tester to really make an effort to push a character to its limits?

There is a competitive spirit in people, the hunger to prove you can be better than others. Anyone with a healthy level of ego will have that. Most current players will just give up in the long run due to these factors not being satisfied. Good luck trying to depend on low-skill testers to uncover bugs.

Reading all your answers the only thing i keep thinking is that you are just trying to ragebait people. Not giving AF to the game itself.

Mate, this is the dumbest thing I've read since Monday.
Do you understand what you are doing in this game? Giving data and feedback on heroes, map, gameplay or bugs.
That's the only thing that matters for a playtest of a game. Do you enjoy the current build of the game as game in a isolation? Yes? Write a feedback post about what you would want.
No? Write post about that, then go away until the full release.

Like I said: if you judge a game prematurely for its unreleased version and refuse to play the full version, this is just an IQ issue. Sorry but that's really what it is. Refer to the example I made with bugs. "I like this game but there are too many bugs, therefore my opinion of this game is permanently negative and I will not come back when the bugs are fixed" :|

Every single game in history tends to pop off when they release and gradually lower in player base. I'm gonna remind you again that the amouint of player kinda doesn't really matter right now because this is a playtest, not a released game. Their objective is not to get as many people to play it as possible, it's literally to test out features. Again, referring you to the fact that Deadlock is invite-only!

It is not out. It is in testing phase. I can't keep repeating this. If you don't want to test out the game, then wait until its release. It's as simple as that. Greeding for more is just being entitled, I'm sorry. You have the PRIVILEGE to enjoy the game while it is in testing phase. And it's not because you enjoy it that it means that it's released or that you should have all your whims catered to you.

Your "incentive" to test is, to test it. You can find enjoyment in testing it, and if you don't enjoy testing it, then come back after release. That's all. Clearly there are plenty of people like me and many more that enjoy testing the game for what it is. If you don't, then leave and come back once it's released and stable.

I don't disagree about the ego thing. Except woops, this is a testing phase. If the game was released and you had this issue, I'd give you a thumbs up. But it isn't. It'll come later. So please come back later lol.

Additionally, when it comes to feature feedback, skill level doesn't actually matter all that much. A lot of game design issues are handled mathematically through calculating things, not by high levels talking their asses off. I've seen plenty of "high skill" people talk about game design and fumble disgustingly hard about it. Sorry, but being good at aiming doesn't make you better at knowing how to balance the game.

And for bugs, I think anyone with half a brain can see that skill is pretty much irrelevant. There are plenty of bugs that can only be discovered when you play the game in a way that isn't intended as opposed to how a "good" person would play it. Bad people tend to not play correctly and find those bugs just as easily.

I love it enough to know a ranked split as of now is not beneficial for the game's testing. You're selfishly demanding things from the game because you want to enjoy it more, while I'm explaining to you that your own enjoyment in the game is irrelevant. I'm clearly not ragebaiting lol.

As I've mentioned several times, I understand it's an alpha, and I understand it's in the testing phase. Now, I'm not someone with only three working neurons to understand the current state of the market. Whether you like it or not, this leak, despite being "invite only," has to significantly accelerate the production pace because it's already out there and you start having conditions to meet for the product.
When your only argument is to repeat the same three points like an NPC, it becomes clear that you're not capable of responding with any depth.
I'm not trying to ragebait anyone or discuss irrelevant matters like you are (eg: oh my spirit haze is not fun). If your understanding of production is that the game is only tested casually, without pushing the algorithm, then sure! Excellent professional you are!

I plan to give it another chance when the official release comes out because I do have an open mind. I decided to uninstall it two days ago because the current state (aside from gameplay) is impossible to enjoy.

And please, don't disrespect people. We're "testers".
Stay firm to your thoughs

Oh, and btw: dont even take your time, i'm adding to ignore list :)

After playing for over 300 hours, a simple update has transformed one of my favorite games into just another title among many.
While we are in Beta, an environment meant for "testing" and "finding errors," the game's direction has become concerning.

Positive Aspects:

  • Active Balance Efforts: The developers are actively seeking to balance the game, which is commendable.
  • Frequent Micro-Patches: Short-term fixes are being implemented through micro-patches, addressing necessary adjustments promptly.
  • Build Customization: The ability to create and save your builds for future use, along with the option to test them in the Sandbox, adds depth and flexibility.
  • Gradual MOBA Shift: The game is slowly shifting towards the MOBA experience they promise, promoting objective acquisition and its functionality, which is actually quite good.
  • Performance Improvements: In my experience, the game's performance has been improving. I used to lose many FPS during teamfights, but now at least it remains stable, thanks to the content preloading system when initializing the game.
However, there are several negative aspects that could jeopardize the game’s future if not addressed promptly.

Problem Areas:

  1. Queue Merging: The decision to merge ranked and normal queues has negatively impacted the game experience. This change, especially on my server (SA), has been problematic for many, leading to several friends uninstalling the game.
  2. Matchmaking MMR: The current system's MMR matchmaking is unclear. It is hard to determine if you are progressing because the merging of normal and ranked games makes it feel irrelevant. Winning or losing does not seem to effectively reflect points gained or lost.
  3. Transparency in Ban System: There is a lack of transparency in the ban system. While the current player base is meant to test the game, issues like cheating, griefing, and toxicity are highly prevalent. Bans seem random, with no clear logic behind the selections. There are harsher penalties for quitting a game than for trolling, insulting, threatening, or cheating. It makes no sense. So far, I have encountered at least 20 cheaters; I have their profile names saved in an Excel sheet, and they continue to play (who cheats in a Beta, anyway? XD).
  4. Server Toxicity(Server Specific): Placing Brazilians and Spanish speakers on the same server has exacerbated the problem. This has resulted in diminished competitiveness and integrity. It is disheartening to test the game when disparity in skill levels and active griefing are rampant within the first 5-10 minutes of a match.

Suggested Solutions:

  • Rollback Ranked Queue Changes: Reverting the queue system would help restore the game's competitive nature and integrity.
  • Clear Matchmaking MMR: Implementing a system similar to the Elo rating system (used in chess and other recognized titles) with a badge and number format would provide clearer feedback on progress.
  • Improved Transparency in Ban System: Regular updates on ban waves would help the community feel that cheating and toxic behaviors are being addressed. Even periodic announcements can create a perception of active management.
  • Separate Servers: Establishing separate servers for SA and BR players would mitigate the daily toxicity that currently affects the gaming experience.
I still hope the game can progress positively, but at this point, I am less motivated to continue with the current product. I may return in the future if the developers make adjustments that improve the community and game management. Until then, another potentially great game risks being ruined by a lack of foresight and proper decision-making from its creators.
Devs used to be very active about matchmaking issues before in Discord, but it's all stopped now. They're no longer focusing on improving matchmaking for better quality matches or player experience. They're prioritizing faster queues for more playtest data. It's intentional. Just uninstall and come back at launch.
