Since the last patch I've been getting this error with alarming frequency.

  1. Get this error - immediately crash.
  2. Game checks configuration, then sits at 0% downloading indefinitely.
  3. Requires a full PC restart for it to actually update the allegedly missing files.
    1. Tried force closing Steam to try and fix the 'stall' this sometimes (rarely) works.
    2. Instead of restart, can just wait 5-10min and itll eventually actually verify integrity/fix files.
By this point it sometimes count as an abandon.

It most commonly happens as the first game of the day. I've tried to start avoiding it by automatically checking the integrity of my game files prior to playing, it has limited influence over whether or not it happens. For instance, in the game above, I had already done that and played multiple match + the match is 30min in. Still happened.Never had these crashes beforehand.

Other information: I have this game set to auto-update, so shouldnt be missing anything. Its playing of an SSD. I have a 4080 and a 7800x3D.

I'm having the same issue. I've tested RAM, uninstall/reinstall, changed installation drive location, verify before starting a game, turned off xmp, dropped graphics settings. Everything short of OS reinstall.

I basically can't play anymore starting maybe a week ago. I had no issues then all of the sudden I can't finish a game. Sometimes it is straight away, like immediately after launch, sometimes its 20 minutes into a game. I keep catching bans and now I have 3 games in low priority.

I feel like there are tons of posts about this with no defined solution.

If it helps, the 'solution' ive found is that i literally just verify the integrity of the game every single time before i launch it. Takes 20seconds and i havent had a crash since.

That worked for me for a couple of days, now it just allows me to get deeper into a game before it happens vs happening at the menu

For what it is worth, I started verifying my game every.single.time before I hit launch and havent had an issue since. Unsure if thats a genuine solution or I just got lucky and the problem went away as quickly as it started (only affected me for like 3 days)

I'm getting this issue also since the last patch. The only way to fix it for me was by deleting the pak01.vpk and verifying game integrity on steam. Really frustrating the game doesn't check beforehand to prevent a temp ban on matches
