Communications Report Abuse Bug

I think there might be a bug in the report system, since you can get voice chat banned for literally no valid reason for 48 hours. I've just played a very calm match where my team won, all I ever did in terms of communication was:

- Use voice chat for 5 minutes to say where an enemy was during laning
- Write EZ in text chat at the end of the game

This obviously doesn't warrant a restriction in any other game i've played before, so there must be some case of bug abuse going on. This is not about my individual case (even though I am frustrated that as a devoted player who has played this game for over 100 hours, I cannot playtest the ranked mode due to this bug), but about the report and ban function being very poorly executed. There is no indication by whom or why I have received my restriction and there is no proper way to appeal it from inside of the game.

Now to talk about my personal experience, given that I was polite and my team won, I can only imagine that this weakness could've been used to gain an advantage in competitive play and remove competition, since i'm playing in a high rank environment. This of course is worrying for my plans of investing time in the ranked mode of the game.

Its simple report system abuse. Many have similar experiences. People that sensitive should not be allowed to play a competitive game. And yes, you are correct about it being a tool to eliminate competition from the playing field. its a well noted tactic in other competitive games. But we are talking about Valve here. They are supposed to be the ones setting industry standards. So many ways this very old issue can be handled fairly that no one does yet.

But saying "EZ" at the end of a game is an Ass Hole thing to do.. everyone knows it. You know it too.

In other valve games like cs2 i've never had such issues, there's even a spray in the game that lets you write "EZ" on the walls for the enemy team to see.

I think it's much more important to target actual hurtful messages that contain discrimination on the basis of race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc. In those cases it would be much easier to filter the reports or showcase the reasons for being banned.

The issue is that if you unintentionally tilt too many people (simply by playing infamous heroes or killing someone repeatedly) you will get banned. If it's on me, I'll own up to it, but I just took the time to review my last five ranked matches up until I got comm banned.

Yeah he's acting daft... he knows why he said it and knows its affect.... he knows cuz its been done to him. Its not like it was an original thought.

Agree on the "ez" (should just be filtered/replaced with "Good game!") but the report abuse is an issue.

People are abusing the automated report system to get anyone banned. The issue is that if you unintentionally tilt too many people (simply by playing infamous heroes or killing someone repeatedly) you will get banned.

I got a 2 day comm ban after just telling someone they could get banned for pause abuse because they got ganked and decided to pause the game and flame my tema. If it's on me, I'll own up to it, but I just took the time to review my last five ranked matches up until I got comm banned.

This is an insanely awful take. People are reaching crazy levels of stupidity here. Literally everyone says GG EZ, or EZ after a tough win. It is a tradition from dota and dota 2. To equate this to being worse than the n-word is psychotic.

Go out in the real world and start dropping n-bombs and gg ez and see which has much worse consequences. I cannot believe people are defending this stupid report system with these awful takes.
