in the first spot the desk is clipped into the wall/bookcase, and the halfwall behind it sort of stops short of the column so you can see inside the object. The second picture is just some cinderblock texture that seems to be laid over a door, I'm not sure if that's intentional but looked unintentional so got a picture of that as well.
