Chat muted for saying "GG"

I've seen several people with the same issue.
It seems that the chat ban system is VERY flawed, i'm not a valve dev so i can't tell how many reports one person has to receive to get AUTOMATICALLY (this is bad) chat banend and BANNED FROM RANKED (this is also very bad), but this is an issue.

In the end, only evil people that false report others for fun will be able to play the game, while all the innocent people are banned.
Sure, the system rets rid of toxic people too, but at what cost?

Automated bans from reports have never been abused in any other game before. So surely it would work here too.

At first, I was really skeptical about anybody claiming to have been chat muted falsely, or that organized false reporting was going on in general. There's just been way too much people muted for that to be the case. Valve really needs to look into this, something fishy is definitely going on.

I was too. Mid way through October I saw it and it was like yeah okay... and then it got released that you could indeed just exploit a bad report system and 3 reports gets anyone done regardless of actually offending any rules. And now more than half the bug reports coming in are people complaining about being unjustly banned. After being victim myself I can now see this has been going on for weeks. Threshold based bans are a joke and should prompt investigation, NOT action. If such an investigation finds egregious behaviour THEN act.

I got zero bans from May to October and then I get 2, 4 and 7 day bans back to back while at 'worst' trying to coordinate my team. And this only happens when it's public knowledge you can abuse reports. Curious stuff there.

Same here, people tend to lie a lot, i didn't believe it until it hit me too, this system is fundamentally broken

Unforutantely happened to me as well. I however can at least see why I got chat banned for the very first time I got it, even if I don't personally agree with it. I don't think telling someone they are bad or that their play is dumb, should get you banned, but at the very LEAST I can see how it could be argued that my first voice comm banned was deserved. But every voice comm ban after my first one, is not deserved at all.

I got a 2 day, then 4 day and now 7 day bans, back to back with a TOTAL of 10 games played during those periods. After the 2 day ban, I played 8 games and got banned.
Then after the 4 day ban, I literally played 2 games. In which, in the first game I played I legit didn't even comm. Like at all, no chat or voice. Because ever since I got my first ban, I stopped using the microphone at all, in fear that people might report me for just my tone of voice.

Legit the WORST thing I said in the literally ONE game I played that I think I got the 7 day comm ban for, because again, as a reminder I played a TOTAL of 2 games after my 4 day ban, to get instantly a 7 day ban, the worst thing I said was typing "Good job farming jungle Warden, while your team is team fighting. Smart." followed by "That just lost us the game." Because our warden was our most fed member, and he didn't defend our base so we lost both shrines while he was out farming jungle. Like legit that is the WORST thing I typed.

So yeah, there is just no way this system isn't being abused. I gave my mathids in 2 other threads, one I made and 1 made by someone else. As well as I msged them to Yoshi directly, asking the devs to please tell me what in the chat logs constitutes as a ban. But of course nothing so far. Because it doesn't seem that they care at all. They probably just assume that anyone who did get banned deserved it. Especially if their first ban was actually deserved, like you could argue my first ban was deserved. But my 2nd and 3rd bans were NOT deserved. Though in my personal opinion, calling a play dumb, or telling someone they are bad a game, while sure, can be considered rude, but bannable? That's crazy. That means this game has a censorship system that is worse than a roblox lobby full of 5 year olds. I thought the majority of the demographic for this game are 18+

the same thing, the only thing I said in the game - yes, press your krill buttons already = ban 4 days, the first ban is ok, but this is a complete mess
the theme created remained unanswered....we will make a PTA and will not let anyone play it, ingeniously

Here are some things to try instead of just jumping to the low-brow "ur bad" commentary:
  • Ask NICELY if the Warden would like some gameplay tips to help them win more engagements.
  • Make some build suggestions or item suggestions to help them learn how to make better purchases
  • Ask them NICELY the join you on a gank or a tower dive or whatever early in the game to help them feel engaged. Then you can offer some suggestions on things they could do differently since you will have watched their gameplay first hand.
If you bypass all the ways you could have been kind and helpful and just jump to insulting them, then yes, you should be banned. There are so many more helpful and useful ways to give input.

Will Valve pay me to psychotherapy people in their game? What is this assignment with an asterisk that in addition to playing well, people are forced to motivate without hurting their tender feelings, 5 more people to play well too, lol?

If it was a Wendy's then he would at least have basic customer service skills. I know this is a joke/meme but it also doesn't make any sense.

I didn't realize that being a good, nice, helpful person was that much to ask of someone. If you aren't used to kindness, maybe you aren't seeing how unkind (and therefore bannable) you're being. I'm sorry to hear that you've been under the impression that treating others nicely was a chore.

You sound like you took great pride in being a middle school hall monitor. Nobody here plays this with the intent of pretending to be Ned fucking Flanders.
If you're happy with everyone getting banned for showing even the SLIGHTEST amount of antagonism, nobody wants you here.

I repeat, this is a game, not a simulator of psychotherapy for difficult / stupid / drunk people, with whom in each game I have to find not just a common language, but from your words show maximum loyalty, so that they do not spoil my time. Unthinkable

Hahahahaha lmao this is just peak.

Based on your suggestions, I should:

  1. Condescendingly ask people for permission to lecture them.
  2. Monitor their item choices and plays on top of my own stuff I need to worry about, as I coach them during a live game.
  3. Make sure I suck them off every step of the way.

I am what you would call a "sweaty" player. I practice movement stuff in a demo map. The first day I installed Deadlock i was looking for guides on how to be more efficient, I watch high skill players and try to emulate what they do. When I join a game, I want people that put in similar effort to win, because winning is the whole fucking point of the game. It's a competition, only one team can win.

I'm a reasonable person. I make mistakes, I don't press all spells at the perfect milisecond, I don't have perfect aim tracking. But when I get matched with people that don't defend walkers, don't join any teamfights, but at the same time they don't even push out waves or attempt to take buildings, or they just run into enemies at 30 minutes, it feels like they're whispering "your time and effort are worthless to me" in my ear.

But of course, only one side of this conflict has a responsibility, and that's the "toxic" players. Not the people who waste 40 minutes of your time. Not the people you can't solve with a press of a button. No, it's the people that call them assholes for not giving a shit.

This is 12 years of Dota 2 speaking. This isn't going to change and for your own mental health, if you are argumentative, you should quit this game, because justice is only served to the meek and fragile.

right to tears. like

i am already getting tired of telling people to stop feeding these emotional parasites.

hopefully valve and devs will address this issue on tomorrow's update, it has been 2 weeks and it just keeps getting worse with every emboldened delusional psycho.

in the words of the wise Snoop Dogg, drop it like it's hot.
