Cannot join any matches

I'm playing on nixos 24.05, which is admittedly a bit non-standard, but I'm not sure that's what's up.

I've played a few bot matches, but something has switched and I can't join _any_ matches at all - the game will put me into the queue, but after about 15 seconds it goes back to the main menu, with no error message.

This happens with all types of matches as far as I can tell

I've tried:

- verifying integrity of the game files
- reinstalling the game
- restarting my computer
- restarting steam
- launching the game with `-dx11` to make sure I'm not using vulkan

all to no avail.

If I knew where the game puts it's logs I would be interested in poking at that, but at the moment I'm lost.

After taking the time to fill this out... I figured it out! The issue is that my computer uses a VPN (specifically mullvad through tailscale). I turned that off and joined a bot match instantly.

It's annoying that this isn't supported (stopped being supported?) but I suppose I can live with turning off my VPN while playing deadlock.
