Calico Gloom Bomb inconsistent interaction with primary fire

Calico's 1, Gloom Bomb does not play an animation when sliding. This is the only instance I can find of this but I recognize it isn't really unexpected or a major issue. The part that matters is that you are allowed to continue sliding when throwing the gloom bomb. The only other projectiles I found that would allow the player to continue sliding while throwing them were Geist bomb and Viper knife (which seems quite intentional given the character's identity).
My initial impression was that this was a nice thing for a mobile close range fighter to have and I would not want it to be removed but there is some strange behavior.
Calico does not need to stop firing when throwing gloom bomb which again I see as an opportunity for skill expression to maximize DPS, but it is inconsistent. Sometimes while standing or sliding she will be able to continue firing through the gloom bomb cast and sometimes there will be a gap in the primary fire even without an animation playing.
I do grant it is technically possible I'm just managing to accidentally time the cast between shots in such a way I'm not noticing the gap but I don't find it likely.
It's tough to replicate it consistently. At first I thought it was just when sliding, then when on slopes where she could slide, then I concluded it seems effectively random.
