Bullet spread is viewing angle dependent

Bullet spread tightens horizontally depending on the camera pitch.
Affected heroes, as far as I know:
  • Abrams
  • Grey Talon (Rain of Arrows)
  • McGinnis
  • Mo & Krill
  • Pocket
  • Shiv
  • Yamato

My guess is that it's based on world space angle instead of camera space angle?

Have you ruled out the possibility that the spread increases with distance? The ground underneath you is closer than the ground and wall further away.

It's very unclear from the picture how these were shot, but you might want to consider that—contrary to a lot of first person shooters, including Valve games—the bullets in this game physically come from a mostly accurate position around your gun and then travel towards the vanishing point. They are not magical straight lines that fly out from "the middle of your face or camera".
So the position/distance of your gun in relation to surface/entity that's being shot has a pretty significant impact.

Thanks for replying! Yes I have tested it, and here you can observe the spread change with the camera angle, even at longer distances.

It's even more noticeable with Grey Talon, because his usual horizontal line lands in a single spot (doesn't increase his DPS)

One more example. Hopefully the gifs work

I guess this makes high ground more advantageous for heroes with spread weapons. Also low ground? Because it works both ways
