The monsters arrived without warning. Ripping the entire mountain's forest and digging beneath a giant tree. They forced their way through the tunnels, taking apart the roots that a hid an underground world that had it's own sky and sun. The army covered the land like swam of locust, slaughtering everyone and everything in their way. Their mission to find the "Core" for the Dark Master. There would be no survivors.

..and yet a young keen named Clinker had nowhere left to run. As he hides and continues his fight for survival, continues to witness death of his people left and right. Unable to save even a single life. A bush opened, he stumbled into an chamber where a single machine waited, built as if for this exact crisis. It stood just large enough to fight the invaders, and small enough for someone his size to control from within.

He climbed into the cockpit and tried to activate it, the machine would not turn on.
Multiple drops red liquid fall onto Clinker's head from above. a dead keenfolk scientist had some how managed to reach his location before dying. Blood shot eyes stared empty onto the computer screens. A drops of blood flowed down Clinker's own cheer like a tear and onto the screen.

The interior begins to glow, multiple screens appear around him. Old files begin to show up explaining the purpose of the machine. It was considered a cursed creation. A mistake. For the past millennium, the scientists were to create a new found energy source. What they discovered from multiple different ideas was a way to store and "refine the souls of the dead". They continued studying it, till it was deemed too dangerous. Locked away and forgetting the projects around the souls. Calling it forbidden science of war, that has strayed too far from their original vision,

It required souls to power. The rumble from the ground above shakes and crumbled, it was only a matter of time till the monsters would reached him. The screen appears with a simple YES or NO. He hesitated.. but touched the screen to activate it's core.

The machine began to absorb the wandering lost souls that have been killed. When every last one has been absorbed, the machine powered, flowed with green energy and shot out of the ground like a rocket. Clinker was not in full control, it would moved on it's own, slaying every monster in sight as if seeking it's own revenge upon it's enemies. Every life it took, a soul would be reprocessed into a white light that would energize the machine's core. Clinker was fighting the enemies and the machine.

Day light finally broke, the final monster left was himself. The machine covered in red, only it's glowing green energy from it's body and eyes would shimmer as the last soul was finally devoured. The wails of his people would haunt him, screams of revenge and cries telling him it's not his responsibility. The army will one day seek him and the machine.

Now alone, Clinker seeks to use the machine to resurrect his people from this curse.

Thoughts and finishes

Have you ever read Timbersaw's background story? I don't think I can ever come up with something that fun to read! Originally I was motivated to create a Timbersaw hero with Timber Chain // Omni- Directional Mobility Gear to be similar to Wrecking Ball's game play. But it seemed odd having someone like that fling themselves around.. maybe I dont have enough imagination! The idea was too split. Transforming into something i couldnt visualize anymore. I ended up salvaging the hero to focus on Omni-slash // Crash Intrude becoming just a Juggernaut mirror.

A few moves from Tekkaman Blade's have a wire that pulls him, which was the original intention. A lot of it felt similar to Yamoto's Grappling on to people. Structures was the main plan. Being able to fling yourself around would have been the main strategy. I felt too stuck to come up with a good tool kit.

Tekkaman Blade has some interesting movesets in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, a lot of it gave me ideas for a Insect glaive / Vaulting character for a Monkey King hero.

I really like Juggernaut in Dota 2. Nothing like starting a game and then reaching the point where Omni-slash deletes players.

New hero ideas have come to mind during this and if there is one hero i would like to help change is Skyrunner. I only have the wikipedia's info on the hero. I would add a "Passive" to keep the name Skyrunner instead of playing like "skyhopper" lash 2.0

3)Skyrunner
Holding space in the air allows you to move on it as if it were the ground.

Izanami from Blazblue Central Fiction had a very unique ability to "float" in the air and has access to ground normals and walk speed during it. This is different than Flight in fighting games, she can activate float to be above their opponent at certain heights like air canceling. I figured Skyrunner would be similar, running in the air as if it were the ground, having access to slide that probably drops them like a ramp, etc etc.
