I don't have any specific ability ideas, but I think this game needs a baseball themed hero. The Yankees were a HUGE part of New York in the 1930's. Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, 4 straight world series titles. A baseball hero would fit in perfectly with the 1930's NY setting of the game.
At first I was picturing someone like Scout from TF2 in my head, but I think this game is also missing a mage and Scout doesn't fit the occult theme of the game, so a baseball themed mage would be really cool. Obviously they would melee with a bat and have some sort of baseball throwing ability, but perhaps they could also use their glove in some abilities, like catching bullets and sending them back like in Titanfall.
