Just to preface, I did dc on purpose. I've been playing today and the connection has been awful, to the point I wasn't having fun and I was a deadweight on my team. I'm not sure why this is still happening. First match today was as Vindicta, doing pretty well, about three kills, two with my ult. Then, a little bit past the five minute mark, it gets bad. Struggling to go through doors, teleporting into walls, having abilities retroactively canceled, and I remember using my ult, firing directly into a low health wraiths stomach, only for the miss dialogue to play despite there being no way I missed without lag. Halfway through dc and restart the game, rejoin, and then it gets WORSE, to the point where I am actively freezing for whole seconds at a time. Somehow finish with a win, and I take a break. Few hours later, I try again, and I get celeste. And the lag is immediate and bad. No kills ten minutes in, constantly lagging back into enemies and dying when escape should be easy, and I decide, "Fuck it, I'm not having fun and I'm just feeding at this point, I'll use all chat, let everyone know the issues I'm having and why I'm leaving, and dc." Do so, and then I find out I've been banned. I have only dc'ed twice in the last month, once for a similar reason to celeste game, and another as Kelvin... Because I had a ping of 1500 consistently. It was so bad, I couldn't even use all chat to communicate. I dc to try and restart, rejoin, and then... It fails. I try again, fails. Try again, and it works, but ping is still over 1000. I at least got to use all chat (With a huge delay) to let them know my ridiculous ping, and dc again, because what else am I meant to do at 1000+ ping?
I understand the low priority matchmaking, but the ban is pretty egregious. If I don't want to play a game where walking through a door is an elden ring boss, I shouldn't be punished with being unable to play at all. At the very least, I hope they add an option that lets you only matchmake with games that don't have awful netcode soon, because I am not fond of finding out five minutes in that the next thirty minutes of my life are going to be hell.
