Arctic Beam goes around corners

I don't understand if this is a bug or instance of bad game design. I was hiding inside the base, mid lane at ground level next to the towers, and Kelvin's beam was bending through the doorway to slow and damage me.

Nevermind, the beam "ricochets" off structures (lol). Inane but not a bug, it was just a visual artefact that it looked like it curved.
