I wanted to recontextualize Trapper for a post-Old Gods, New Blood update. With the release of Graves and Paige, Trapper's kit has kind of already been taken up by other characters. I wanted to try and see if I could give Trapper some unique things that aren't present in the game and make him an area denial character not through threat of damage, but through threat of inconvenience or knowledge.
M1: Spectral Sprayer
A fast-firing, piercing, mid-to-short-range shot from the pesticide sprayer. To reload, he cranks the little lever that sits by his waist. Based on the pesticide sprayers of the time. I figure it's just gear that they have for tough jobs.
1. Web Wire
Shoot a web at a target location. Fire again to fire the connecting point. Different things happen depending on what you shoot and when.
Shooting at an enemy simply sticks them with the web and applies a slow. It breaks when you lose LOS of them. After hitting an enemy, if you shoot the ground, a tether is formed. The enemy must break the tether (method TBD, I was thinking they need a specific velocity + reach a specific distance past the initial tether point), or after a short duration, they suffer a stun and are dealt spirit damage. If you shoot an enemy, and then another enemy, the two suffer a slow and if they aren't able to separate fast enough, they are launched towards eachother and are dealt spirit damage and stunned. If you shoot a surface, you can shoot another nearby surface to make a regular web tripwire.
2. Lunch Break
Eat your lunch, gaining a heal, health regen, and increased stamina regen for a duration. ALT FIRE: Toss your lunchbox, allowing teammates to grab your lunch and gain the same benefits.
3. Fumigation
PASSIVE: Your shots deal a stacking debuff that reduces the target's stamina regen.
ACTIVE: For a medium duration, your shots also deal a percentage of your spirit and apply a spirit burn. Your shots also change from a skinny short range shot to a wider, medium-range cone.
4. Eyeball Familiar
Summon your Municipal Coven-contracted familiar, which is a little eyeball in a vase.
This creature has health that scales with spirit. It watches over a large area, and when spotting an enemy, if the enemy fails to break LOS of it within a specific duration, the enemy will get pinged on the map. It can be upgraded to ping enemies constantly after being spotted. If a Web Wire trap gets triggered within its range, it will also ping the enemy on the map, even if the creature cannot see it.
I tried to make the Web Wire the star of the show with the rest of his abilities relatively straightforward so as to not powercreep him. His ultimate is no longer Broodmother's as I believe it's kinda been taken up by Paige's ult. He now threatens the enemy macro plays, as you can attempt to keep tabs on rotations and make better decisions based on what you know. The enemies also have more of a counterplay against his tripwires, and can even destroy his ultimate if he doesn't switch up where he places it. Let me know what you think!
