Ability points not displaying properly

the UI is not showing when i have an ability point to spend

I'd like to second this bug, ever since a few days ago the first ability point you spend on an ability after obtaining it doesn't highlight that it's available. You can still upgrade the ability if you have a point to spend, so mechanically nothing is wrong. But the UI isn't highlighting the first level of the ability upgrade in matches. I've only seen this happening in actual matches so you may need to test in a real match. Just pay attention to the UI for ability upgrades.
