Abilities set to Instant Cast that also have an Alternate Cast set to Hold will cast while upgrading using tab key

When upgrading an ability that uses Instant Cast, that also has an Alternate Cast set to Press and Hold, by holding tab and then pressing the ability key the ability will also be cast as it is upgraded. This does not apply to holding alt and then the ability key, nor does it apply to clicking the ability buttons manually in either case. User yrrzy theorised this is due to the ability keypress being recognised as an upgrade immediately, but then the press/hold logic continues to run afterwards, causing the cast to go through when it shouldn't.

This has been an issue for a long time now, perhaps even since Doorman's release, I honestly expected someone else to report it because I thought it couldn't just be a me issue, right?

When upgrading Doorman's Luggage Cart ability using tab + 3 (NOT the alt + 3 "upgrade ability" bind) the cart will also be cast. This doesn't apply to any other of Doorman's abilities (it USED to affect his Doorway as well, but that seems to have stopped?) nor does it affect any other hero's abilities. When using the alt + 3 bind it works as intended as shown after switching to and from Venator in the video (excuse that I fumbled the keybinds terribly - I am not used to pressing these buttons in this order!). Custom keybinds do not change this (in fact, i use mouse4 to cast the cart in the video, although I tested and the same applies if I use the 3 key as well).

Doorman's doors do still do this for me.

This happens for me on any ability that is set to Instant Cast and has an Alternate Cast mode, probably noteworthy that I have Alt Cast set as Hold.

I imagine that it perhaps registers the initial press as an upgrade but, because I am still holding it immediately after performing the upgrade, it then tries to Alt cast it too.

Can confirm this is the issue - changing the alternate cast setting off of "Press and Hold" stops the issue occurring. I used to run Doorway on Instant Cast back when the placement was terribly laggy and inconsistent but switched back to Confirm Cast when it was fixed, which explains why it only occurred to me on that ability for a short period of time. Thank you for the extra insight! I will update the thread title and post to reflect the newfound information.
