2024 snowglobe: having players feel like they've missed out on an unlockable before the game is even released.

i was playing during winter 2024, but i never bothered with intentionally going for any christmas challenges, because all i saw was the playerbase struggling to settle on what the specific unlock requirements were. the skins themselves were so makeshift looking that it never occurred to me that i'd be missing out on a permanent showcase item.

i think it's best to either 're-open' the previous snowglobe with the unlock conditions explicitly stated, or return the snowglobe to all players who played in winter 2024. having to feel perpetually disappointed every time i enter the hideout would absolutely suck for competitionists like myself. :^(

To be fair, at least knowing there are skins to begin with does give hope for the future. Hoping they have a similar system to Dota for customisation, that'd be insane

ngl vouch

its kinda annoying that if you played during winter 2024 you just didnt get the snowglobe since you had to complete it all, plus there wasnt really a given that it was gonna unlock a special permanent cosmetic in the hideout, since the hideout didnt really exist. I hope the snowglobe becomes like a 2024/25 thing, or maybe just have it say what year you obtained it in.

quick edit though; yeah, this should be in general feedback, not here.

it's a shame to see the gatekeeping has already begun
needless fomo dude, it's a digital souvenir. if you had even completed one challenge during the event you would have the snowglobe so it didn't matter to you then, what's the point in crying over spilt milk now. if you were playing around that time you would've probably completed one of the challenges at random (like me lol)

edit: completionist for a moba? that hasn't released yet and has no official collectables or achievements? lol get real

wow, this playerbase is absolutely rancid. i guess it's really true that this sort of game attracts the most short-tempered and antisocial people out there. i was playing only a select few characters in winter 2024, and amateurishly at that. the unlock requirements were never stated to the players. it was never stated that there would be a permanent reward. in fact, i'm fairly certain the devs themselves weren't even planning on having a permanent reward until the hideout came around. seriously guys, why are you stuck with such a miserable mindset?

i pity your teammates. i'll avoid turning this thread into ad hominem, but what i'm saying is that, i play a LOT of games, and through the powers of social awareness, it's pretty clear to tell apart friendly players from... less friendly players. i know that deep rock players, for instance, would never have such a 'boo! hiss!' mentality about letting all players have access to all content.

u had access to the content and decided to not participate so now you dont have anything related to the exact thing u didnt participate in it was your choice not anyones fault

just to make my initial point ( the purpose of this post ) more clear, i was playing during winter 2024 and having a jolly time, yet myself and many others missed out on the trinket not because we 'failed to achieve' it, but because we didn't go out of our way to look up a deadair video or a reddit post about the unlock requirements. some heroes were fortunate enough to have generic ones that pretty much unlock on their own, but others were more niche, to the point where, i'm sure you'll recall, there was much debate on what exactly the unlock conditions even were. i will always be bothered opening the game and feeling arbitrarily betrayed. it's a meaningless souveneir, sure, but if i feel this way, there are others that do as well. and yes, i am taking my OCD meds.

some of you less-concious players that are replying to this thread don't seem to realize that this wasn't advertised as a seasonal quest event sort of thing. i didn't choose to participate in what exactly? you know the hideout didn't exist then, right? and you know it said nowhere, 'complete a challenge to earn a permanent reward a year from now!'
