Aight I'm gonna toss out my pitch and then explain everything afterwards.

[Backfire Hex] 1.6k Spirit Item. Builds from Rusted Gun.

Grants 100 HP. 5% Bullet Resist.

The effect is as follows: "Target an enemy to make them take spirit damage when they fire their weapon." The spirit damage is 12* per shot, but is capped to only proc a max of 3 times per second. Duration 6* seconds. Range 15 meters. Cooldown 40 seconds.

So.... why?

Well I like Rusted Barrel, I think it's a neat early game option to get the upper hand. But it quickly falls off and has to be built into Disarming Hex in order to continue being effective past the laning phase. But with the price I'm basically never building it until the midgame because other items take priority.

Disarming Hex shuts their gun down entirely, which has it's place. But I'd like an option that punishes players that mindlessly magdump. The damage should be low, like the chip damage you take when you get hit by enemy bullets. Only they're your own, cause your gun's backfiring.

Anyway since Disarming Hex is a second shorter (4 seconds), Backfire Hex should be a second longer (6* seconds). The tradeoff is that the range is pretty short at just 15 meters, making it so you're only really using it when they're up close and personal already. Also making it so you're not going to be able to throw the hex onto the enemy backline for free during teamfights.

But if you do use this hex on an enemy not firing and paying attention, you net a solid ~216 spirit damage. But if they are paying attention they can avoid all damage by not shooting, effectively disarming them if they can't risk taking the spirit damage.

Also I think it's a fun/funny concept. The idea of cursing somebody to get shot by their own misfired bullets every time they go to shoot. It's Tom and Jerry stuff, gotta love it.

Item Users

Right off the bat I'm thinking Abrams, Yamato, and Shiv could use this item effectively. Heroes that get in close and take long extended fights. But I can also see Kelvin, Mo & Krill, and Mirage might find some use in it.

Who's It For?

Vyper, Calico, Ivy, Haze, Infernus. Heroes that like to get up in your face and shoot a lot of bullets really fast. Just wait for a Ivy to stone form, an Infernus to ult, a Vyper to dive you, etc. Then drop this on them and watch them get a face-full of their own bullets.
