While McGinnis is considered in combat while turrets are shooting (can be seen if you do not have fleetfoot purchased) the duration of spellslinger is not being refreshed.

The items does not count McGinnis turrets as an ally so they do not receive the spirit lifesteal that should be granted to each individual turret.
