When you upgrade the Flame Dash the tool tip upgrades as well. Once you leave the tool tip and hover your mouse over something else the tool tip top right corner where charges are displayed changes back. See video.
Actually it shows you your build but creates a new one.
So you need to exit yours then select the new one. But you are right it should go to the new build you just added instead of the old one.
One fix would be to only go to the "build browser" window after pressing "create build" instead of...
