Update: Today I've been playing no issue. Updated my Proton version from GE-Proton9-25 to GE-Proton10-17, added PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 to the launch command, and added mangohud to track performance. Haven't tried other versions of Proton in the meantime.

Check the Discord Linux Central thread for tips. But choosing your proton version, using gamemode, and ensuring you're selecting the right drivers are all important. It all depends on your distro/setup.

Update on this: I'm able to play with the same hardware on the latest builds in my Arch Linux partition, so should be directly related to the interaction with the drivers.
I was playing fine on an AMD RX 6700 XT with driver 23.11.1 (as far as I remember), but after upgrading (due to in-game prompts), I boot the game to either a completely black screen or a staticy screen. I tried the following driver versions for Windows 11 x64 Radeon RX 6700 XT:
