Yamato's power slash not hitting midboss or patron correctly

I don't know if this is an intended mechanic or just a bug but power slash does not damage midboss or the weakened patron if i'm not hitting the eye of the midboss of the face of the patron i did not found any other abilities that works like that

to hit midboss with powerslash use it on his head
