Why Deadlock Needs Elven Archetypes and Other Fantasy Races Inspired by Middle-earth

1) Deadlock already looks like a magical shooter with a rich aesthetic. But you know what it’s missing? True fantasy races inspired by Tolkien's world — elves, dwarves, orcs. Let’s talk about why that would be awesome 👇

2) Elves are perfect candidates for Deadlock. Agile, deadly from a distance, and natural-born mages. Imagine an elf character with a bow, forest-based teleportation, and the ability to summon a spirit of nature. That could be a unique playstyle.

3) Dwarves — tanks and engineers. Gadgets, traps, fortifications. They’d fit perfectly into Deadlock’s gameplay with turrets, mines, or even a steam-powered exosuit. Think of something like a “Runesmith” class from classic fantasy.

4) Orcs — brutal, aggressive, melee-focused. You could create a berserker-type character who regenerates from damage taken and builds up rage for powerful abilities. A real battlefield boss.

5) Valve, you’ve already created an amazing world with steampunk and fantasy vibes. Adding Tolkien-style archetypes would deepen the lore and open up tons of new mechanics, stories, and visual designs.

6) Players love recognizable archetypes — pointy elf ears, dwarf beards, orc roars. These give players more emotional connection and make the world feel richer.

7) And no, it doesn’t have to be a direct Lord of the Rings reference. Take inspiration and create original versions of these races that fit the Deadlock universe. Give them new names, new looks — we’ll still feel the magic.
