Some additional information that might prove useful in diagnosing what's happening- I have noticed that if I am playing unranked games this never happens. I played for four hours two days in a row, the first match where I crash out and get the VAC challenge time-out was ranked exclusively. I can't confirm this 100% but I have a feeling it's tied to that mode specifically.
Sorry to anyone else experiencing this; I've found zero solution and it seems to be an intermittent problem that has no solution from the client side. I'd love an update or any information of people who have been able to solve this issue, as it disappeared one week and is back the next. Really enjoying the game though, would love to be able to play it!
