Escape window would only delay the damage and stun, not prevent it. For example, if you are hit by Wraith's telekinesis you will be lifted and damaged only after the 2.5 second window, possibly giving you time to escape immediate danger or dodge the attack with an item or ability. For abilities like Mo and Krill's combo the entire attack will be delayed, with the ability immediately going on cooldown, but the animation, stun, and damage only occurring after 2.5 seconds. It won't matter how far you got from the enemy, the attack will still land.
