Troopers heads as bulbs instead of candles

This came to my head when I heard the soul-denial sound. Makes me think of broken glass.
Still the theme of guardians and walkers is related to fire but somehow lightbulbs fit the esthetic more for me.
Or the heads could be oil lamps. Or if they stay as candles then as they die they could start burning up / melting.

They kinda already do the melting thing? The lower their health, the shorter their candle heads, and also they glow brighter.

Yeah the heads do melt as they lose health which is a cute little way of visualising their health

Also candles make way more sense than bulbs or oil lamps because the whole game is about the occult and rituals and summoning, what do people most associate with that sort of stuff? I'd wager candles are pretty up there

ok, fair point to candles, but faulty lightbulbs can be associated with a Noir aesthetic so i dont think it's fair to disregard lightbulbs as a theme. Looking into anti-electricity propaganda you find stuff like monsters made out of power cables, and if im not mistaken seven went through an occult-buffed electric chair.

you're performing a ritual, as you can see many ritual cirles accross the rooftops. so while the lightbulb does fit the start of the century style. so does the juxtaposition of electricity with the eldritch nature of magic and ritual. black candles, ritual circles.

Both fit the game's aesthetic. I think candles are a bit more relevant, but I definitely think light bulbs would look better. Their lights could flicker as they're near death.

shooting lightbulbs might be more pleasant, with a *pop* :D
and I think the setting allows early electronic solutions

I prefer that each side has unique soldiers, like in Dota 2 light and dark. For example, one side has a candle design, the other has a light bulb. When health is low, the light bulb shines very brightly or, on the contrary, goes out

If you have a suggestion like this you should put in the "Art Feedback - General", not in the community hero section.

Я просто выразил мысль что было бы прикольно) Не я автор темы)

I just thought it would be cool) I'm not the author of the topic)

this too. much is place holder so i do expect we will get a model for each rank of neutral and then even depending where they are. and early electronics is a easy fit in
The trick is that the game intertwines occultism and technology, so it would look just perfect on soldiers. On the one hand we see mysticism, on the other hand electronics, the struggle for the right to exist or dominate over others.

Фишка в том, что в игре переплетаются оккультизм и технологии, поэтому на солдатах она смотрелась бы просто идеально. С одной стороны мы видим мистика, с другой электронику, борьбу за право на существование или доминирование над другими.

While there is a war on occultism and they could be using electronics, but traditionally the occult is fought with the occult.

Not that the game doesnt already do this with warden, he is very much not an occultist type but he was created and trained, and the way he fights and gadgets are very much more contemporary. Yet you see a hand in a cage on his belt, just to show that you always need to dabble in it to fight it, its kind of the nature of the setting, its not that it can't be done otherwise either.

For now in lore its a fight of two patrons, until this is changed to one being a patron and the other being the occult fighting forces like the group vindicta is hunting I think they will keep the very same aestetic. Patrons have very similar power levels and standing in the world as ancients in dota, they are like wish granting gods, the big tuna kahuna of the mystic realm.

I do enjoy the lightbulb troppers idea. i jsut wonder how the visual of damaged would look like. i quite like the head shrinking its such a good visual.
