Cost: 9200 (Components: Ethereal Shift)
+16 Spirit Power
- 10% Max HP
Active (48s):
You enter a void state and become untargetable and invincible for a short duration, during which you cannot move or perform any actions. This ability can be cancelled early at the cost of 10% of your current HP. Afterwards, you instantly reload and gain bonus Spirit Power (Shift will last 2 seconds, and grant +14 spirit power upon leaving it.)
This might seem like a useless upgrade, but Ethereal Shift recently got it's ability to cancel the void state removed, which causes it to be significantly worse. On the other hand, ethereal shift having a cancel invalidates most ultimates in the game, so there has to be a middleground. The concept for this item is that this upgrade of Ethereal Shift regains the ability to cancel, but at a cost.
Why would this be used?
This upgrade would be a more reliable counter to Ultimates such as Wraith Telekinesis, Shiv Killing Blow, Grey Talon Guided Owl, or Abrams Seismic Impact. This is due to the fact this upgrade regains the ability to cancel the active, which allows you to get back into the fight quicker, while maintaining a downside to using the cancel. The shorter duration might seem like a nerf, but in reality its also an upgrade. The shorter duration of this active allows you to decide to not cancel if you do not want to lose the health, while still being able to quickly avoid a certain death ultimate (Like ones listed above.)
This would also allow people to quickly reload like previously possible with Ethereal Shift, but again with a cost of 10% of your HP.
How could this not be abused?
Unlike the 3000 soul Ethereal Shift, this ability would not be able to be used while silenced. This would allow cheap counterplay that unlike other items does not require big ticket 6200 items. Items such as Silence Glyph would be able to prevent usage of this upgraded Ethereal Shift, which solves the issue that original Ethereal Shift Cancelling had where the enemy had no counterplay to it.
