Steam forces a download popup but nothing happens

This is the second time this has occured to me. Im loading into a match and all of a sudden i get kicked out and every time i try to launch deadlock i get a Downloading Content popup and its just stuck at 0%
Theres nothing to download in the downloads tab. Clicking on the unscheduled update does nothing.
Resetting steam gave me a download but all it says is that its validating files, this has occurred on two separate computers one while using mods and one while i wasnt

Happens often to me; I usually restart the game between rounds since I already had to work my way out of 8 low prio games cause of this and other related dogshit.

sadly for me in this case resetting between matches wouldnt had mattered since it was the first match ive played in hours. The one time i wanna play a match before im away from my pc valve just says "fuck u"

this was the "update" they made me do
i was able to load into a match so its not like i didnt update my game recently
