Spirit Skin

-1 for unoriginality. Metal skin but for spirit damage has been suggested countless times before. Still a terrible idea when you put 5 seconds of thought into it.

Then supress metal skin, it can not be fair if u allow people to dodge gun domage and don't allow pepole to dodge spirit domage

Gun builds can stop shooting for 3 seconds and go back to dealing full DPS. Spirit builds have to wait for their lock down and engage cool downs to come back in order to deal their damage.

It's their problem if they spend their cd on protected people

+ in the majority of cases, if someone uses the metal spirit item perfectly, they'll just dodge a spell or combo, for $3000 I think that's fair.

There's a reply button. Use it.

Pricing is irrelevant, squishies living through an entire burst combo, or even just getting to waste somebodies warpstone/leap is incredibly broken. The only way this could be balanced if it had a massive self inflicted slow/stun while active, at which point you might as well buy eshift.

I feel like it's a hard item to balance. Basically every character can still do damage to someone with metal skin. Even Haze can deal with Metal Skin, since it doesn't block her sleep dagger or some of her Ult damage. You can still get debuffs with Metal Skin active. Metal Skin also has the downside of slowing movement while active, so it's not a get-out-of-jail-free card, but it's still pretty useful. Spirit Skin has a lot more balance to consider.

If it's full immunity, does that mean immunity to stun moves like Abram's Ult, since it deals spirit damage? Would you be able to absolutely tank a Warden or Bebop Ult even if your positioning is poor? I'd assume you could still take debuffs, but then what's the point in the item, since most spirit abilities grant debuffs over direct damage? If you didn't take debuffs, then it's a better version of Unstoppable, since Spirit Skin also nulifies spirit damage.

It can last something like 2/3s and just protect from spirit domage, u would take debuffs stun and other cc
+ I didnt think it will be broken, i mean u litteraly can be protected from all gun domage.
Even if u dodge a combo, there are other player in the team who can burst u after

The thing that spirit skin suggesters don't understand is that spirit and gun users deal damage in fundamentally different ways (burst vs later scaling DPS).

yep and u should be able to dodge a burst
To be fair, Ethreal Shift does that already.
The way I see it, a Spirit Skin would be great against a burst spirit character like Lash, but even then he'd still be able to displace you with his Ult and he'd still be able to knock you up with his ground pound. This sounds fine since Lash isn't doing any damage to you anyway, but why take the debuffs when you can just get ES and dodge all of it?
It seems like Spirit Skin would work for retreating, but because you still take debuffs from Spirit moves, most characters would still be able to slow you down or straight up displace you.

lash would be terrible against spirit skin since it would take out any lethality from his bread and butter late game burst.

Sorry, I meant that the item would be good against Lash, not that the item would be good to have because of Lash 😅

Still, Ethereal Shift just fulfills the role of a Spirit Skin item when it comes to dodging burst spirit damage. The only thing Spirit Skin would do better is letting you move/attack during the active duration.
