I was spectating a match after queuing.
After joining my matchmaking game, it put me in as a spectator instead of a player.
After leaving Spectating, the game didn't give me an option to rejoin my game. Instead I clicked the "Play Deadlock" mode to see what would happen.
It proceeded as normal to the hero selection, so I exited it because obviously I wanted to play in the current match I was in, not a new one.
However, this gave me an abandon penalty and the game was safe to leave.
I was in a party with a friend at the time. If I had restarted the game after leaving Spectating, perhaps it would've fixed it and let me rejoin. Also, not sure if it mattered, but I was AFK in the hero selection for like 5 minutes before this bug happened.
