I’m not entirely sure what’s causing it, but ever since the Drifter patch, soul timing has become nearly unplayable.
Other players seem to be noticing the same issue:
Here are a couple of clips :
(realtime),
(slowed)
I’ve tested this in sandbox mode. Even with a 350% fire rate Vyper, there is still a random delay before souls register. For example, I should be getting around 6ms or 21ms consistently, but I often end up with 76ms. Here's a clip with hitting those 76ms three times in a row:
The beginning of the clip show the number of bullets I throw per second. Which is around 60 bullets a second, give or take. So one bullet every 16ms. I don't see how I can ever reach 76ms, with this kind of fire rate.
So the test show me that I will have a 76ms delay, no matter how fast I shoot. Add to this the normal human delay and it becomes really random. Now, if this is a client-side issue, some players have an advantage. If this is not a client issue but client-server issue, a user might get a low delay soul, while the other might get a high one, resulting in a free deny 100% of the time.
Some degree of imbalance between characters is tolerable. But losing a lane because soul confirmations don’t work properly, whether due to collision issues or random delays, is extremely frustrating. You can still win a lane after dying or being countered, but you cannot win a lane if you cannot farm souls.
That is why I am asking the devs to please take another look at soul timing since the Drifter patch. Something feels off, and I really hope it gets fixed. I’ve put over 1,000 hours into this game, but at this point I am genuinely considering uninstalling. I do not think anyone enjoys losing lane control to random soul steals since it feels unfair and unfun.
Thanks
