Siphon Bullets can eventually negate ALL your damage

Okay so this situation seems unlikely to occur in a match, but easily repeatable in sandbox. After you get around mid 2k on Siphon, you'll start seeing damage ticks of 0 and your total damage will start going down. After 3k, you can no longer do any damage. All bullet and spirit damage is 0, as you can see in my screenshot below with McGinnis (spirit dmg courtesy of turret).

To replicate, just shoot with enough reload speed so the Siphon doesn't expire and keep shooting. I added titanic mag and quicksilver to speed up the reloads and keep shooting longer. I repeated it on Bebop just to check it wasn't a weird McGinnis thing.

Maybe the nature of a game means this is impossible in practice, because it requires a lot of Siphon and probably the target is dead (or you are) before this could happen, and I haven't tested multiple enemies, ricochet procs, or other boundaries of how this might work, but it seems like maybe an item shouldn't be able to completely stop your damage.

its because you siphoned the whole healthpool of the target dummy and there is no hp left to damage.

Thats why you can replicate it in the practice mode but not in the game. The target will die when its hp reaches 0 unlike the dummy.
 
That actually makes a whole lot of sense, thanks. (Edit: I guess I didn't really think about being able to siphon the entire health pool of a character - I wonder if this is possible in game over time, if you kill someone enough with it?)

I noticed because I have a life drain build for mirage and I saw the same thing and was like oh woops.

I would say technically this could happen but it would require someone getting so much healing that they are negating all your damage and the only thing sticking is siphon bullet. Then you fight so long that you siphon all their hp till they literally have none left.

Problem is Siphon bullet has an internal cd so not every bullet slurps up some hp and eventually your dps will match how much total hp they have and they wont be capable of out healing it any more as they just get one shot.
