Sinclair stealing Vindicta Ult and it not timing out

I stole Vindicta's ult and I didn't lose it after my timer expired. I was able to get rid of it by using all the charges. eventually. I think what caused it was me firing a shot just before the timer ran out. Maybe Rapid recharge has something to do with it as well?
