In the attached video you can see that after the shrine is destroyed the shrine applies the curse. To me it seems like a bug but it could be a future all I know. I knew the shrine was going to be destroyed before it cursed me so I just kept going when I got cursed I was really surprised. Personally this doesn't feel fair or intended.
