Setting Region to EU - Still locks me to South Africa

I've set my region to " citadel_region_override 1 "
But I am still queuing matches in South Africa. I would prefer to play on the ping on the region selected, instead of getting auto queued to the region that is closest to me please.

I don't enjoy playing within the South African region and I'd rather be playing on the 160 ping in EU than on the 10 ping on South Africa.

care to elaborate as to why you would take the +150 ping deficit? or is the explanation Not Safe For Online?

Honest opinion - SA player base is low. that means the quantity of players is lower, Therefore any game that happens is generally going to be a lot more unbalanced, where in EU the quantity is higher, it means that you get more balanced games.

On another note, If you get really good at the game, lets say, some of the best in ZA, then you don't really have equals to practice against the whole time.

Seconding what ecodragon said above. The 150ms sucks, but at least we can get games that way. As it stands, it's not uncommon to queue for 15-40min without actually finding a match. Additionally, a smaller playerbase means more unbalanced matches.

Please let us connect to EU servers again, Valve.

Allowing people to queue for regions that they aren't from is incredibly unfair to the players of the region you're queuing for. While you may be fine with taking the 150 ping deficit, other players most certainly aren't fine with having a 150 ping player on their team, or on the other team.

I would also like to remind everyone that using a VPN to bypass in-game region restrictions is a violation of the steam user agreement.

I agree with this, but only as long as the "citadel_region_override" command works again. I don't want Europeans to be forced to play with Russians, but I also don't want to play with other Russians.

Europeans don't want to play with Russians either. If valve allows region override to work again, then there's nothing stopping those other Russians that you don't want to play with from joining EU servers.
