Ranked - Constantly matched with Russian Speakers in UK (EU region)

This matchmaking system isn't helpful for ranked as I am repeatedly being matched with Russian speakers as either the entirety of the team or with the majority of the team.

This is bearable in casual play, but in ranked which relies a lot more on teamwork it makes it unplayable.

It also isn't a pleasant experience politically, EU shouldn't be matched with RU

I think after these words, you can completely erase all the words in your topic, you are obviously negatively disposed towards Russian-speaking people not because of the language barrier, but because of your political views.

I play on EU and in 40% of matches with Russians, if you ask them, they will speak English, even bad English, but you will understand them. Russia has its own servers and they play there, in the whole world there are about 300 million people who speak Russian, by the way, only 146 million people live in Russia.

You have to wait until Valve makes a language option like in Dota, where even if you choose Europe, you can choose Russian and play there with Russian speakers. So until then, unfortunately, you can only ask to speak in a language you understand, since they play on the European server.

For this reason, Valve separated Russian players from European ones 2 months ago - because of the language barrier, as there were many complaints, but do not forget that the same Ukrainians speak Ukrainian/Russian in games and they do not live in Russia, the same Kazakhstan and the CIS countries also play on European servers with English-speaking people.

No, not really, it is language which is the predominant issue and even if some do speak some English my general experience is they either won't (if theres other Russian speakers) or they will switch back. And these aren't just Russian speaking people from other Russian countries, many I've played with are actually Russian because they say they are or they have it in their name.

The reason I mention the political part is simply because some do make politically charged comments in the game which I've experienced, which isn't pleasant

Unfortunately for you, Valve has already separated servers from Russia, they play on their own, since Europe is closer, they play there too, those who do not live in Russia and speak only Russian/Their native language, if America were closer, they would be there, so you will have to wait for the introduction of a choice of language in which you want to talk with teammates, but even in this case, most often Russian speakers will choose both languages and nothing will change.

Most times I've played with russians in ranked they recognize each other and will refuse to speak english. I have not experienced this with any other playerbase (that I have been matchmaked with). It's nice to hear you have not had the same experience as me but It's fairly common for me to have negative experiences with russian players also in Dota and CS2.

I just wish there was a way for me to force my matchmaking to play in EUW instead of Stockholm server to avoid russians as much as possible, I only see it as a win-win allowing people to speak the language they enjoy most instead of trying to force everyone together.

In League of Legends I've never had this issue to this degree due to region lock, so it is very much solvable but considering that Valve has done little for Dota and nothing for CS I very much doubt theyll do anything different in Deadlock, especially adding something as drastic as region lock.

Russians use VPNs because they don't want to play with other russians. The only way this will be fixed is by mass-blocking IPs known to belong to VPN providers from connecting to game coordinator.

Every time I find myself in a game made of mostly Russians, they're constantly ignoring call outs and often telling you to shut up in English before continuing to use Russian amongst themselves.

EU ranked and matchmaking puts you RU region matches like every like 4-5 matches. For me those matches tend to be low quality.
