Random freeze / crash

Hey

I'm using a 2070 super with R7 3700X and experience a lot of freeze & random crash at any moment of the game
Sometimes my game just freeze (I can see the game) and the only way to fix it is by restarting my game.
Sometimes the screen just goes fully black when I'm on the game screen, my computer is still working properly but I also need to restart my game to fix it

Today I was in the "start screen" of a game when it happened and I restarted my game but ended up "stuck" in the lobby

I was playing in 4/3 stretch, tried to move to native resolution but doesnt fix it, I tried fullscreen, windowed mode, borderless, nothing fix the game freezing

I started playing several days ago and also experience random freezes several times, and today the first CTD after rejoining a match right after a freeze (I am forced to exit the game and relaunch). There doesn't seem to be any one trigger, just random.

I am playing on Linux through proton, however those who report the same issue (through searching reddit, steam, here etc) either say windows or don't mention OS (therefore can be assumed to be windows). I have tested both direct X & Vulcan (latter I default to) and they both have the same issue.

Not to mention high GPU usage with the game (seen through the use of radeontop terminal application) to the point where streams/videos playing on my other monitors stutter like nothing I've seen before. I know optimisation will come with an alpha game but it seems wrong that Deadlock causes this. No other game makes media on my other monitors stutter at all.

A final addition is also something I've never experience before: these freezes may or may not break the steam overlay entirely. As in, if I reopen ANY game without restarting the desktop environment there will be no overlay (tested both Deadlock and Team Fortress 2); no overlay, as in shift-tab does nothing, and the overlay's FPS/clock widgets I have active do not load at all. restarting the DE fixes this, which I have shortcutted to ctrl + alt + escape so it doesn't take that long.

This weird steam behaviour does sound like it is related to the following, and similar, bug example: https://old.reddit [dot] com/r/DeadlockTheGame/comments/1f1y97v/bag_on_the_steam/

All of these seemingly separate issues may sound like they warrant different bug reports, however I would bet, are all related and thus I am putting them together. The ONE thing I want to remember to do is the next time it freezes to refresh the DE before I end Deadlock with the task manager (system monitor in Linux Mint). If I remember to do that, I will post the result.

Even though its random, its consistent in that most sessions end with the freeze and forced end task before booting up the game again ASAP. I hope consistent freezes/crashes in an alpha game won't give me a D/C penalty :)

I just had my first crash/freeze tonight. Joined a match, the countdown started after we all connected, and then as we are about to start the game just froze. Only option was to force shutdown client and restart the game.
