The 1930s had some fun concepts for sci fi, with spawning pulp sci fi and retro futurism. With that, i introduce the man of the future.

Rex spent his youth devouring pulp magazines filled with tales of rocket ships and rayguns. Fueled by this fantastical imagery, he became obsessed with building his own spacecraft. His dreams would soon pay off when a peculiar government initiative, the "Tomorrow Men Project" was announced. This program promised to pluck the "men of the future" from their time and bring them to the present. Rex, managed to snag a spot. Soon, Rex sported a sleek, red and chrome space suit and a raygun that crackled with energy. The real prize was a space ship built to his exact specifications. This was his chance to touch the stars.
Launch day arrived, and Rex climbed into the Crimson Comet, his heart pounding a rhythm against the hum of the engines. The countdown began, and as the final number echoed, Rex thrust his fist skyward, a triumphant grin plastered across his face. But then, the Great Awakening intervened. The sky ripped open, a blinding light engulfing the launchpad. When Rex regained his senses, his world was spinning. Alarms blared, the Crimson Comet lurched violently. He scrambled for the ejector seat, a desperate last-ditch effort. He blasted out of the crippled spaceship, leaving a trail of red and chrome plummeting towards the earth.
Rex landed with a hard thud, the world a distorted mess. Days later, he learned the horrifying truth – a tear in reality, a consequence of the Great Awakening, had sealed Earth within an invisible barrier. Spaceships wouldn't fly, radio signals vanished into the void. Rex, the man who craved the cosmos, was grounded. Despondent and fueled by frustration, Rex sought solace in the fringes of society. He delved into the whispered secrets of the Great Awakening, the rumors of powerful entities known as Patrons who could grant desires in exchange for a hefty price. Rex, driven by his unyielding desire for the stars, was willing to pay. And so he embarked on a perilous journey, a desperate gamble – to summon a Patron and trade his soul for a chance to navigate the stars.
Abilities:
Repulsor Charge: Rex throws a repulsor charge, which can stick to enemies and deals dot damage. Any enemy hit by this cannot dash for the duration.
Rocket Propulsion: Rex takes off from his jetpack, pushing all nearby enemies away from him and begins to fly.
Photon Shield: Rex activates his shield pack, which creates a dome around himself, blocking projectiles until it is destroyed.
Gravity Drive: Rex tosses his ships gravity drive, which after a short duration, pulls all nearby enemies to the center of the explosion and deals damage.
