Pitch for New Item: Acceleron Orb

Concept: The Acceleron Orb is designed to address the issue of ability projectiles becoming less effective as the game progresses. Certain abilities, such as Bebop’s hook, start to feel sluggish by late game due to the increase in overall movement speeds, dash abilities, and stamina items. As a result, these abilities become less reliable for hitting opponents who can easily dodge or outmaneuver them.

Purpose: The Acceleron Orb would be a mid-to-late game item that increases the speed of ability projectiles. This would ensure that abilities dependent on projectiles remain competitive and effective throughout the entire game, rather than becoming obsolete as the pacing speeds up.

Mechanics: When equipped, the Acceleron Orb would provide a percentage increase to projectile speeds for abilities. This boost would allow abilities like Bebop’s hook to connect faster, ensuring they stay relevant as opponents’ mobility increases. It would benefit other projectile-based abilities similarly, maintaining the game's balance by keeping abilities effective against high-mobility opponents.

Why it’s Needed: In the current meta, projectile abilities can feel outpaced by the late game due to the sheer speed of enemy movement. Having an item like the Acceleron Orb allows players to adapt and keep their abilities useful against evasive opponents. It also opens up new strategic options, encouraging more dynamic play by making slower projectiles viable again.

This item would fill a key niche in the game’s item pool and provide a necessary balance for ability-based characters. The Acceleron Orb would be a valuable addition to the game, ensuring that projectile-based abilities retain their utility, even in fast-paced, late-game scenarios.

You literally have spammable echo shard, to get pass those limitations of dodging or chaining. Whilst this item will make your abilites are pretty much sure hit if you aim them right. Bad design. Abilites speed and other are set in consideration to balance and ability to read and dodge. Dont touch that.

I think that's fine, spells scale very very well with ability aoe duration and extra effects that if its slower to travel is a counter play. the hook mechanic is a feast or famine gameplay style. that's ok, people already bitch and moan about current beepbop because if you are just peeking your head shooting to the left and a beebop is holding a wall with only his hook arm out you are open to a bullshit looking hook he found and late that is devastating. displacement should never be given for free, and i respect paradox swap is a projectile.

As said before you can so easly make abilities impact radius so big where you can't miss. seriously throw a geist 1 with range on her 2 or 4 (because those are more range gated) and the pool the 1 leavestoo to control space to cut retreats harder to engage is fuckign huge. even base like its already massive. VIscous goo is really slow but sometimes you are chilling inside a building and a random goo that bounced off random stuff just does 400 damage to you. abilities already pack a huge punch and if you miss then, hit them. you need to be closer? be closer. Like having it be harder to dodge kelvin bombs sure is going to be fun oh wow i barely can play the game with his 80% move speed slow beam from halfway accross te map now he can hit me behind walls really fast with another slow. No that's bad.

At the very least show us other examples than beepbop hook, which is the WORST example you could have picked, to show where this would be good.

also reliable damage is better than unreliable and that's where weapon focus characters exist because longer games means they have better damage with the gun over spell spam. there's already fine spirit and spell scalling without having it removing more counterplay ( there's slowing hex and curse what else you need? his pc to crash?)

Thanks for the feedback! Here are some additional examples of abilities that could really benefit from the Acceleron Orb:
  1. Seven's Lightning Ball: This is a great example of where increased projectile speed would be valuable. By late game, when everyone’s mobility is cranked up, it becomes much harder to land those Lightning Ball hits. With the Acceleron Orb, the speed of the ball would increase, allowing it to reach its target more quickly and making it more viable against faster opponents.
  2. Vindicta's Crow Familiar: Vindicta's crow attack is another ability that could greatly benefit. The increased speed from the Acceleron Orb would make the crow fly faster and improve the chances of landing successful hits, especially when enemies are stacking dodge or speed items in the late game. It would definitely help keep Vindicta’s crow relevant in those fast-paced fights.
  3. Wraith’s Royal Flush: Wraith's flying cards could also see a huge improvement. By increasing the speed of the cards, opponents would have a much harder time dodging them, giving Wraith a better chance to deal consistent damage late in the game. It would definitely make this ability feel more impactful.
I think this item would really help maintain the effectiveness of these projectile-based abilities as the game progresses, making them more competitive even in the face of high-mobility opponents.

seven's ball and vindicta's crow do a lot of damage or a huge debuff. its important to dodge them and you are spending ressources. yes spending stam is not a "free" escape. If 2 people are dash jumping and dash sliding to run away if another comes into the equation with just sprint speed its suddently a 180 because this new person regardless on which team they are from they are un escapable and can even roll to block for the team and still have ressources to outpace you now.

Vindicta has a leash spell and 7 a stun. its setup and control to land those spells. wraith has the best ult in the game and the card is mostly a quicksilcer reload and with practice you can hit people inside buildings consistently.

I feel if mobility is to strong vs your damage profile and how you can confirm damage there are items like slowing hex and curse. even knockdown. and its 1 item to very much knock a whole character because mobility is rarely just a cherry on top its core to how the character can play. use cc to set up big late game nukes. if you can do damage vs mobility without cc then what's the point of cc and immunities.

I cannot agree for the health of the game that this is a good stat to explore
